This course is designed to provide participants with information on the art and science of transporting critical patients via helicopter and fixed wing aircraft. Emphasis is placed on the autonomy and responsibility of caring for patients under advanced protocols during short and long distance transport, including:

    - Stresses of flight and altitude.
    - Patient packaging and loading.
    - Documentation and communications.
    - Safety considerations.
    - Critical care monitoring.
    - C.V. assist devices.
    - Trauma patients.
    - Critically ill patients.

Intended Audience

Registered Nurses, Paramedics, EMT's, Physicians and Respiratory Therapists interested in working as helicopter or fixed winged flight crew medical personnel.
